The memory industry remains in focus as investors weigh strong pricing, rapid market growth and shifting competitive positions across major players including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (OTC:SSNLF), SK Hynix Inc. (NASDAQ:SKHY), Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), Kioxia, Sandisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK) and YMTC.

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares rebounded on Thursday after Dell Technologies provided evidence that demand for AI infrastructure remains strong. Samsung rose 1.2% to 253,500 won in early Seoul trading, while SK Hynix gained 1.5% to 1.637 million won.

Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) has proposed Samsung Electronics pay 20 trillion won ($15 billion) ​in advance for power through to ‌2031 to help fund the expansion of its grid, the Chosun Ilbo reported on Thursday.

South Korean stocks sank on Wednesday as a renewed surge in oil prices and global bond yields hit the KOSPI's heavyweight technology and industrial names, turning Seoul into one of Asia's weakest major markets. The KOSPI was down 2.86% at 6,640.26 by late morning after opening more than 3% lower.

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares fell about 3% Wednesday as a fresh macro shock hit the AI-memory trade. Samsung traded at 252,750 won in early Seoul dealings, down 3.16%, while SK Hynix dropped 3.6% to 1.632 million won.
