A group of global investors including Qatar Holdings, an investment arm of Qatar Investment Authority, Visa and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, is preparing to invest more than $200 million as cornerstone investors in the U.S. initial public offering by SoftBank's PayPay, according to two people familiar with the matter.

OpenAI on Friday (Feb. 27) confirmed it has raised $110 billion in new funding from Amazon, Nvidia and SoftBank, in one of the largest private capital raises in technology history, as the company moves to secure the compute and infrastructure needed to scale advanced AI systems globally.

OpenAI raised $110 billion, with Amazon and Nvidia joining as major investors. OpenAI's biggest corporate backers are all intense rivals of Google.

OpenAI's new $730 billion valuation is more than double what it was a year ago. But OpenAI's financials pale in comparison to those of public peers.

OpenAI has closed a $110 billion funding round, a financing that's more than double the size of its last raise a year ago, which was a record for a private tech company. Amazon invested $50 billion, Nvidia invested $30 billion and SoftBank invested $30 billion in the round, OpenAI said in a release on Friday.
