A hands-on experiment to test whether AI shopping assistants threaten property and car listing sites ended in their favour. Giles Thorne, an internet analyst at Jefferies, the investment bank, built his own artificial intelligence agent to search for a house and a car this summer.

Rightmove LON: RMV reported 7% revenue growth for the first half of 2026, supported by higher average revenue per advertiser, or ARPA, and membership growth in its estate agency business, while softer new-homes development activity weighed on that segment.

Rightmove PLC (LSE:RMV) has announced plans to return more than £400 million to shareholders over the next year, despite cutting its revenue growth forecast as weakness among housebuilders weighed on its New Homes business. JP Morgan has run the numbers on a renewed bid for Rightmove PLC (LSE:RMV) by REA Group and concluded the deal would deliver little for the Australian buyer's shareholders. The bank, in a note by analysts Marcus Diebel and Bob Chen, estimates a revived takeover would generate only around 4% earnings per share accretion, an outcome it does not consider attractive on a risk and reward basis.
