Qantas Airways is betting that science can make the world's longest flights feel less punishing - unveiling plans for a "wellness zone," extra legroom, specially timed meals and animated lighting ​on its non-stop Sydney-London services due to launch next October.

Qantas Airways is set on Wednesday to unveil ​the first destination for the world's longest non-stop flights from eastern Australia to London or New York, tackling one of ‌the few unbroken barriers of air travel after years of delays.

Qantas is in talks with planemakers ​over a possible ‌deal to purchase around 20 Airbus or Boeing wide-body ​jets, industry sources ​said.

Airbus said delivery of the first of a batch of long-distance passenger jets to Australia's Qantas Airways has been delayed as supply-chain issues buffet the plane maker.

The world's most ambitious ultra-long-haul airline project will be delayed yet again. Qantas has pushed back the launch of its Project Sunrise nonstop flights between Australia's east coast, London and New York following Airbus' notification of delivery delays for its specially modified Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
