EasyJet's cabin crew in Portugal voted on ​Thursday to go on ‌strike between October 2 and 6 and again from December ​19 to 23 to ​protest poor working conditions, in ⁠a move likely to ground ​hundreds of flights at ​Portuguese airports, a spokesperson for the SNPVAC union said.

British budget airline ​easyJet is ‌being sued for at ​least $72 million ​by an Irish ⁠unit of ​Russian state-owned ​aircraft lessor GTLK for unlawfully ​abandoning six ​Airbus planes after ‌terminating ⁠their leases following sanctions, the Financial ​Times ​reported ⁠on Tuesday.

EasyJet flight attendant staff ‌in France will go on strike on August 15 and August 16 to ​demand better working conditions, the SNPC-FO trade ​unions said in a statement on Wednesday.

EasyJet shares rose Thursday afternoon after Apollo Global Management said it would buy the U.K. airline after private equity rival Castlelake announced it was withdrawing its bid. Castlelake last month unveiled an improved offer for the London-listed carrier, which was swiftly followed by a larger bid from Apollo.

Castlelake said ​on Thursday it was no ‌longer pursuing a takeover of easyJet , ending its months-long buyout attempt ​of one of Europe's ​biggest budget airlines weeks after a ⁠higher bid from rival ​suitor Apollo Global APO.N.
