Lufthansa and German pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) have agreed a ​framework aimed at resolving long-running labour ‌disputes through arbitration and mediation, reducing the risk of further pilot strikes.

Deutsche Lufthansa ETR: LHA reported record second-quarter revenue but lower earnings as higher fuel costs, labor disruptions and aircraft-delivery delays weighed on results. Management said demand remained strong, particularly in premium cabins, Asia routes and cargo, while the company narrowed its full-year earnings outlook amid fuel-market volatility and shorter booking windows.

The carrier group reported net profit of €123 million for the second quarter, compared with €1.01 billion in the prior-year period.

German airline Lufthansa revised its outlook on Tuesday, setting a range for its 2026 adjusted operating profit after ​that figure more than halved in the second quarter due to higher fuel ‌costs tied to the U.S.-Iran war.

Portugal is set to receive binding bids on Wednesday ‌from Air France-KLM and Lufthansa for a minority stake in TAP, kicking off the final battle for one of Europe's few remaining standalone flag carriers.
