Shares in Boohoo Group PLC (AIM:DEBS), which trades as Debenhams Group, after it raised £40 million in an oversubscribed share placing, with shares rising 5% to 19p. Strong investor demand, which exceeded £35 million, prompted an increase in the size of the fundraise.

Boohoo Group PLC shares fell after the online retailer announced plans for a £35 million fundraising at a slight discount. Notably, the shares fell 6.7% to 21p, above the proposed offer price of 20p.

Boohoo Group PLC is preparing to raise about £35 million from shareholders as it seeks to cut debt and give itself more breathing space. The online fashion retailer, now operating as Debenhams Group, said the planned equity fundraise, priced at 20p a share compared to the last close at 22.5p, will create additional liquidity and deliver what it called the “optimal capital structure”.
